Obituary for Donna Marie Christian (Mayen)

Donna Marie Christian, a lifelong resident of Beacon, entered into rest on January 17, 2023 at home with her beloved husband by her side. She was 74 years old.

Donna was born in Beacon on September 16, 1948 the daughter of the late Martin and Genevieve Gallagher Mayen. On December 6, 1968 at St. Joachim Church in Beacon, she married John Christian who survives at home. Donna worked many part-time jobs over the years that she enjoyed including at Groveville Mills, Crescent Lingerie, Howland Public Library, Sargent Avenue School, Waldenbooks at the Dutchess Mall and Fishkill Rural Cemetery Office. She retired in 2006.

Donna was a parishioner of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist Church. She was also a member of the Beacon GOP Committee where she and her husband were Reagan Day Dinner Honorees. Donna was also a member of the Beacon Historical Society, the Home Bureau of Beacon, Touponse Bowling League Sticky Buns and Friday Night Leagues, Tioronda Garden Club and St. John’s School PTA when her sons were younger.

Donna is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Christian; her son, Bryan Paul Christian and his wife, Agnieszka of Silver Spring, MD; her daughter-in-law, Dennine Christian of Richland Hills, TX; her grandson, Leo John Christian of Silver Spring, MD; her sisters-in-law, Gail Byrnes and Cathy Christian; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Donna was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Genevieve Mayen and her father and mother-in-law, John, Sr. and Elizabeth Christian; her son, David James Christian; her brothers-in-law, Garret Byrnes and Alan Christian.

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon. Burial will follow at St. Joachim Cemetery, Beacon.

The family has requested memorial donations be made to the Church of St. Joachim – St. John the Evangelist, 2 Oak Street, Beacon, New York 12508.
